Trujillo Leads Westminster’s Late Rally

Joana Trujillo led a fourth-quarter rally that gave Westminster a 41-37 victory over Orange in the first round of the Santa Ana Valley girls’ basketball tournament Monday.
Trujillo hit a jump shot late in the final quarter that gave the Lions a two-point lead. She followed with two free throws, increasing the lead to four for Westminster (3-0).
In the first round of the Brea Olinda Ladycat tournament:
Brea Olinda 102, Moreno Valley Canyon Springs 32--Amanda Strum had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Ladycats (5-0).
In consolation games at the South Coast Holiday tournament:
Jurupa Valley 48, University 35--Fala Suiaunoa scored 20 points for University (0-2).
Newport Harbor 65, Riverside Rubidoux 22--Sophomore Kalena Jackson scored 21 points for the Sailors (1-1).
In a nonleague game:
Long Beach Poly 60, Fountain Valley 54--Kelly Boeke scored 30 points, including 11 in the second quarter, and grabbed 17 rebounds for Fountain Valley (1-4), which led by one at halftime.
In pool play at the Century Shootout boys’ basketball tournament:
Century 57, Orange 38--Terrail Zoller had 29 points and eight rebounds for Century (3-0).
In the Costa Mesa tournament:
Buena Park 48, Mission Viejo 47--Nick Hankins made two free throws with one second remaining to win it for Buena Park (4-1). Brian McDonald had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Coyotes.
Jerry Bolton scored 20 points for Mission Viejo (1-4).
