GIRLS’ TENNIS

City Section Individual tournament--All three Granada Hills doubles teams and one singles player each from Granada Hills and Van Nuys qualified for the quarterfinals after winning matches in the round of 16 at the Racquet Centre in Studio City.

Granada Hills’ No. 1 doubles team of Karen Fung and Caryn Linder defeated San Fernando’s Lydia Cordero and Violeta Arteaga, 6-3, 6-1. The Highlanders’ No. 2 team of Julie Kang and Nicole Frydman beat Hamilton’s Quan Le Trang and Malikh Brooks, 6-0, 6-2, and the No. 3 team of Ilah Layosa and Valerie Ramirez defeated Helen Cho and Joanne Joo of Van Nuys, 6-2, 2-6, 6-0.

In singles, Granada Hills’ Jasmin Dao advanced with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 victory over April McKinney of the L.A. Center for Enriched Studies, and Van Nuys’ Leslie Musser defeated Hamilton’s Kamilah Smith, 6-1, 6-0.

The quarterfinals are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mountain Gate Country Club in Los Angeles.
