Providence 89, Loyola Marymount 74--Erron Maxey made eight of nine free throws and scored a career-high 19 points as the Friars (4-3) defeated the Lions (2-8) at Providence, R.I.
Loyola Marymount shot 24% and had 12 turnovers in falling behind, 31-23, by halftime. The Lions closed within five at 31-26 on a three-point basket by Ben Ammerman to start the second half, but Providence broke open the game with a 21-4 run.
