Standing in Both Ends of the TV Parent Demographic Pool

Kudos to Earl Pomerantz for articulating the truth (“There’s a Reason TV Parents Get No Respect,” Counterpunch, July 21). However, how about me? I am part of the “crazy parent from hell” and “cute” grandparent group, and still I continue to watch “Seinfeld” and “Friends,” etc. Someone should check me in.

The “Malibu” Getty is located in Pacific Palisades, which is within the city limits of Los Angeles and not Malibu (“Why Doesn’t Malibu Getty Honor Its Roots?,” Counterpunch, July 21).
A look at any map will confirm this.

Crystal J. Gips makes an excellent argument for the educational value of much TV fare (“There’s Lots to Learn on Saturday TV,” Counterpunch, July 14). But more than half of the programs she cites are available only on cable, which many households cannot afford. Thus many of the children who might benefit the most from such programs would not be able to watch them.
