Fugees’ Jean to Push ‘Carnival’ at the Circus

Wyclef Jean, the latest daring young man to join the circus, hails from the flying Fugees--not a trapeze act, but one of the most successful groups in hip-hop music.
On Saturday at the Pond of Anaheim, Jean will turn the evening performance of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus into a double-header. First comes the three-ring circus at 7:30, then, at 10 p.m., Jean and his Refugee Allstars will give a hip-hop concert that’s included with circus admission. It will be Jean’s first date promoting his new solo album, “The Carnival.”
“I think the Ringling Bros. asked him to do it,” said Miguel Baguer, Jean’s publicist. “A lot of performers would be like, ‘Huh?’ But he loves the circus. I’ve known him a long time, and he’s going to have the time of his life. He does great back flips.” Baguer said Jean won’t be touring with the circus.
Besides playing post-circus, Jean will test his agility in the “Three Ring Adventure,” a regular precircus feature starting at 6:30 p.m. There, ticket-holders can try their skill on a trapeze or low wire, or hobnob with clowns and other circus talent.
