While most Internet companies are still trying to find a way to make a profit, plenty of workers are finding Internet-oriented careers quite profitable, thank you. A survey released recently by New York-based Buck Consultants, a human resources consulting firm, found that 16 common Internet occupations command generous salaries. Buck questioned 104 companies that operate Web sites and discovered that the highest-paying position is vice president for online, with an average annual base salary of $109,000. Even the lowest-paid occupation--data control technican-- averaged $40,900 a year.
