From Times Staff and Wire Reports
It was difficult for John Hawthorne--standing in Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park and remembering how his wife was killed a year ago by a bomb a few feet away. Hawthorne’s eyes filled with tears as he told about 200 people at a prayer service his wife must not be forgotten. The bomb killed Alice Hawthorne, 44, and injured more than 100 people. Atlanta marked the anniversary of the tragedy by shutting off fountains at the park and observing a moment of silence. There have been no arrests in the blast.
