Valley North Wins Area Legion Crown

The Valley North American Legion baseball team defeated Newhall Saugus, 15-10, Sunday in the Area 6 title game at UCLA’s Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Valley North (29-6) advances to the state Legion tournament, Aug. 2-5 in Yountville. Sunday’s victory was its third over Newhall Saugus in postseason play in the past week.

Newhall Saugus (26-11) held a 10-3 lead entering the bottom of the seventh, but Valley North erupted for 12 runs in its final three at bats.

For Valley North, Bryan Gant had four hits and two runs batted in. Travis Richardson had three hits for Newhall Saugus.
