Toddler Hurt in Hit-and-Run Is Upgraded to Fair Condition

A North Hills toddler struck by a hit-and-run driver while trick-or-treating Friday evening was upgraded to fair condition Saturday, authorities said.

The boy, whose name has not been released, “has a slight concussion and some abrasions to his face, but no other injuries,” said Steve Rutledge, a spokesman for Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles, where the victim was airlifted.

According to authorities, the boy was canvassing the neighborhood for candy with his father and sprinted into the street in the 8500 block of Columbus Avenue when he was hit by a red Nissan traveling south. The vehicle fled the scene immediately, Los Angeles police officers said. No one had been arrested Saturday.
