Balboa Bay Club Wins Tennis Event

NEWPORT BEACH — The Balboa Bay Racquet Club beat the Racquet Club of Irvine, 88-52, in games at the Senior 140 tennis tournament here Sunday.
Dick Soth and Dick Fitzsimmons of Balboa Bay won all 24 games they played in the event, in which the ages of the members of each doubles team must add up to at least 140.
Howard Daum, 84, and Bill Popejoy, 59, combined to win 21 of 24 games for Balboa Bay.
Stan Quade and Nelson Bobb of the Racquet Club of Irvine won 23 of 24 games.
The Racquet Club of Irvine beat Park Newport Tennis Club, 80-57, and Balboa Bay Racquet Club beat the Newport Beach Tennis Club, 81-48, on Saturday.
