A Los Angeles man was killed on the San Diego Freeway in Carson early Friday when he lost control of his car and spun into a lane, where another vehicle slammed into him, authorities said.
Kwan Soon Park, 27, was apparently driving at a high speed when he swerved to avoid hitting a tarp in one of the southbound lanes near the Main Street exit at 4:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. He crashed into the center divider and spun into the middle of the freeway, where his Acura was broadsided by a sport utility vehicle.
Park was pronounced dead at the scene, Donnelly said. The driver of the other vehicle had minor injuries.
The accident forced rerouting of traffic on the southbound side of the freeway for nearly two hours, Donnelly said.
The accident is under investigation.
