Playoff Berth for Aliso Niguel

ALISO VIEJO — Michael Eggins scored two touchdowns to lead Aliso Niguel to a 21-14 Pacific Coast League victory over University Friday night at Aliso Niguel.
Eggins rushed for 110 yards in 21 carries to help the Wolverines (4-5, 3-1) clinch a playoff berth.
Aliso Niguel can claim a share of the league title if it beats Laguna Hills Thursday at Aliso Niguel.
University (1-7-1, 1-3) overcame 14-0 deficit to tie the score, 14-14, on a three-yard touchdown run by Gerson Contento with 8:56 remaining in the game.
The touchdown was set up when John Torres intercepted a pass and returned the ball 57 yards to the Aliso Niguel five-yard line.
Aliso Niguel did not score on its next possession, but the Wolverines got the ball back on the University 18-yard line with five minutes left in the game after a fumbled punt by Contento.
Four plays later, Eggins scored from 10 yards out to put Aliso Niguel ahead, 21-14, with 3:56 left in the game.
University advanced the ball to the Aliso Niguel 17-yard line on its next drive. But on a third-down play, Rich Hada sacked Damian DeFeo for a 16-yard loss.
DeFeo’s next pass fell incomplete and Aliso Niguel took over with 1:10 remaining.
Aliso Niguel took a 7-0 lead when quarterback Jared Hill connected with Lee Brennan on a 20-yard touchdown pass with 10:38 left in the second quarter.
Eggins then scored on a 27-yard run with 6:10 left in the third quarter. University cut the lead to 14-7 when DeFeo connected with Chet Johnson on a 20-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.
