Lappin, from Loara High, helped stop Santa Ana’s three-game losing streak with his strong performance Saturday in a 38-21 upset of Palomar. Lappin completed 14 of 21 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns. He also kept Palomar off balance with his rushing. Lappin gained 48 yards in 12 carries, including scoring on runs of four and five yards.

* Golden West, sophomore. Was 25 of 52 for 331 yards and two touchdowns, but the Rustlers lost to Saddleback, 36-18.
Andrea Taylor
Orange Coast, Sophomore
Soccer
Taylor, from La Quinta High, had a big scoring week and so did the Pirates. She had two goals as Orange Coast beat Santa Ana, 7-0, last Wednesday, then got one more when the Pirates beat Riverside, 5-0, Friday. The goals give Taylor eight, including four in Orange Empire Conference games, on the season. She also has three assists.
Volleyball
Jana James
* Golden West, freshman. She had 12 kills as top-ranked Golden West swept No. 3 Saddleback in three games Friday.
