Flying High: What stands 15 feet high and has wings that flap? The answer: public art. A kinetic sculpture, made of aluminum and stainless steel, will be installed today at Hayvenhurst Avenue and Sherman Way, near Van Nuys Airport. Artist Jim Jenkins calls the abstract work, which has motorized wings that flap about eight times a minute, “Alaris.”
