Southern California is home to some of the world’s finest reproductive specialists. And, happily for people who live elsewhere, they all write books. This latest consumer guide to treatments for infertility comes from two highly respected practitioners and UCLA professors. The book provides the latest information on treatments as well as much cautionary advice to couples who might be vulnerable to exploitation, not to mention bankruptcy. An interesting chapter, entitled “Misconceptions,” lists the doctors’ top 10 wrong-headed notions about infertility treatment. Readers should bear in mind that there are many controversies in the field of assisted reproductive technologies and the doctors bring their own philosophies to attention in their books.
