OUTLOOK
Now that they have the kind of team speed to be more competitive, the Warriors’ winless days (0-19-1 the last two years) may be behind them. Harris, the tailback, was the only freshman starter for a Gibson-coached team; he heads an offense that has more speed than usual and two quarterbacks, Barlow and Lawyer, who give that offense some options. Barlow started at receiver last year before breaking his collarbone; Lawyer can also start at defensive back. Other likely impact players are receiver Masserman and linebacker Valanos. Coker, a transfer from Mater Dei, will start on both sides of the ball. “[The junior class] reminds me of the late 1980s--we had a couple of back-to-back classes that had some talent,” Gibson said. “With our league and schedule, we have to have talent.”
