Bacteria Blamed in Deaths of 4 Babies

Doctors are trying to figure out how to fight an aggressive strain of bacteria that was blamed for the deaths of four babies this summer at Boston Children’s Hospital. The culprit appears to be an aggressive strain of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. Four critically ill infants in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit died this summer of an overwhelming infection of their bloodstreams.
