Michael Woods gained 98 yards in 22 carries for Littlerock High, which christened its new stadium with a 14-6 victory over Hesperia on Saturday at Littlerock.
The Lobos (2-0) started their first two drives at their 49-yard line and scored on both possessions. Littlerock ran 12 consecutive times on the first drive, ending with a six-yard touchdown run by David Newton with 4:50 remaining in the first quarter.
Quarterback Myles Meeden’s one-yard sneak put the Lobos ahead, 14-0, on the final play of the first quarter. The touchdown was set up by a 39-yard pass from Meeden to Jacob Campbell, who dropped a certain touchdown pass at Hesperia’s 20 earlier in the drive.
Littlerock limited the Scorpions (0-2) to 48 yards and three first downs in the first half. Its only mistake was a missed tackle by Derrick Hammers which allowed Hesperia’s Joe Gooden to score on a 25-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
Adam Fabela had a clinching interception for the Lobos at the Scorpions’ 33-yard line with 29 seconds left.
Meeden completed three of seven passes for 64 yards and Newton rushed for 89 yards in 19 carries.
