Professor Pleads No Contest to Sexual Abuse During ‘70s
- Share via
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A professor of counseling at George Washington University pleaded no contest to charges he sexually molested his stepson and stepdaughter more than 20 years ago.
Under a plea bargain, Eugene Walter Kelly Jr., 62, a former Roman Catholic priest, was spared a prison sentence but must register every six months as a sex offender.
Kelly was accused of molesting his wife’s children from 1972 through 1976. The boy was 14 and the girl 12 when the alleged molestation began.
No charges were filed until a therapist told the son that confronting the abuse was the only way the family would heal.
