As a reminder of prisoners of war and those missing in action, the POW/MIA flag will be flown year-round at City Hall.
The City Council has approved the request by both the city’s Veterans Advisory Committee and Vietnam Veterans of Orange County to display the flag. It will fly below the American flag, on the same flagpole.
In November 1997, the National POW/MIA Recognition Act was enacted, requiringthe POW/MIA flag be displayed at federal buildings and offices, post offices and Korean and Vietnam memorials on patriotic holidays.
The Vietnam Veterans of Orange County is requesting that cities also fly the flag; half of Orange County’s cities have agreed.
