Daryl Allen Smith, accused of selling former Angel outfielder Tony Phillips about $30 worth of rock cocaine last year, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a simple possession charge and was sentenced to a year in jail, which he has already served. Smith, 41, faced a potential sentence of 17 years had he been convicted.
