Golden West Beats Citrus Behind Fenderson’s 24

Travis Fenderson made six of nine three-point attempts and scored 24 points to lead Golden West past Citrus, 80-67, in a consolation game at the Riverside men’s basketball tournament Thursday.
Wes Bunn scored 14 points and Jason Titus and Cliff Aska had 12 each for the Chargers (2-6), who play Rio Hondo in the consolation semifinals today at noon.
In another tournament game:
Mt. San Jacinto 99, Irvine Valley 70--Mt. San Jacinto made 16 of 32 three-point attempts. Tony Johnson led Irvine Valley (6-3) with 19 points and Commander King had 14.
The Lasers play Los Angeles City in a consolation game at 1 p.m. today.
In the Hancock women’s basketball tournament:
Cuesta 73, Golden West 65--The Rustlers trailed, 67-65, with 22 seconds remaining, but Golden West’s Jennifer Laster missed a short jumper then Cuesta made four free throws to help seal the victory. Kelly Medlen had 22 points for Golden West (2-7).
Yolanda White had 23 points and 13 rebounds for Cuesta (5-4).
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Santa Ana 103, Barstow 39--Rochelle Anthony scored 29 points and Stephanie Patten had 20 points and 15 rebounds for Santa Ana.
