PASADENA — Eleven candidates are expected to compete for the newly created office of elected mayor in the March election.
Mayor Chris Holden, former Mayor William J. Bogaard, former Mayor and Councilman William M. Paparian and Councilwoman Ann-Marie Villicana are among the best-known contenders who filed for the office by the Friday deadline.
Other contenders include Lance A. Charles, the city’s affirmative action director, who is suing the municipality for discrimination.
Closing out the field are Roy Begley, Javier Gutierrez, Jackline Matosian, Van-Martin Rowe, Guido Meindl and Eleta D. Fellows, City Clerk Jane Rodriguez said.
So far Rodriguez has certified Holden, Paparian and Bogaard’s petitions.
