* Villa Park at Katella, 7:30 p.m. Friday: Forward Alan Verzani and three-point shooting guard Alex Will lead Century League champion Villa Park into this Southern Section Division II-AA first-round playoff game. Katella, co-champion of the Empire League, is coached by Tom Danley, who needs four victories to reach 600.
* Troy at Laguna Hills, 7:30 p.m. Friday: Here’s another Division II-AA matchup of exceptional teams. Troy tied Sonora for first place in the Freeway League, thanks to hot-shooting guard Jerry Inzunza. Laguna Hills, guided by veteran Coach Dave Brown, won 21 games, most in school history, and its first Pacific Coast League title.
