Northridge in Record-Setting Opener

The Cal State Northridge men’s volleyball team defeated Quincy University in its season opener, 15-1, 15-4, 15-3, and set a school record for fewest points allowed in a three-game match.
Junior Mosones had 10 kills for the Matadors, who took 70 minutes Wednesday to defeat Quincy, which went 6-28 last season.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Cal Lutheran 74, UC Santa Cruz 44--Brandie Murrish and Missy Rider each scored 14 points for the victorious Regals (4-6) in a nonconference game at UC Santa Cruz.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Agoura 2, Royal 1--Adam Leiberman took a cross from Jason Landun and scored nine minutes into the first overtime period and the Chargers (5-7-1, 1-3) upset the defending Southern Section Division I champion Highlanders (2-1-1 in league) in a Marmonte League game at Agoura.
Thousand Oaks 3, Camarillo 1--Jeremy Terrell scored two goals to help the Lancers (7-2-3, 3-0-1) defeat the Scorpions (2-2 in league) in overtime in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.
Notre Dame 4, Chaminade 2--Niko Gutrugianios scored twice for the Knights (4-3-2, 1-0) in a Mission League game at Chaminade (5-5-2, 0-1).
Crespi 5, Alemany 0--Justin Canel scored three times for the Celts (5-5-2) in a Mission League opener at Alemany (3-6).
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Agoura 4, Royal 1--Jennifer Graham had two goals for the Chargers (11-3-1, 3-1) in a Marmonte League game at Royal.
