Friends and relatives of murder victim Corie Williams, who was shot to death a year ago today as she rode a bus home from school, gathered in her memory Friday at the corner of Central Avenue and Imperial Highway.
The memorial, held at the spot where gang members sprayed Corie’s bus with gunfire, was dedicated to Corie and the other young people who were slain last year, a family friend said.
Since her daughter’s death, Loretta Thomas-Davis has raised more than $15,000 for the scholarship foundation that bears Corie’s name.
So far, 12 grants have been given to classmates of Corie’s at Centennial High School in Compton. Corie had planned to become a medical technician.
