Attack on Armor: Citing last year’s North Hollywood shootout with heavily armored gunmen, Assemblyman Scott Wildman (D-Los Angeles) introduced legislation barring felons from owning bulletproof body armor. The legislation, supported by the LAPD and the City Council, would make it a felony for felons to possess or own the armor. “Whenever these . . . confrontations occur, the lives of innocent citizens and police officers are unnecessarily placed in jeopardy,” Wildman said.
