Bobby Brown Given Drunk-Driving Term
Singer Bobby Brown buried his face in his hands and sobbed as a judge in Fort Lauderdale ordered him to spend five days in jail for drunk driving and undergo drug and alcohol treatment. His wife, singer and actress Whitney Houston, sat behind him, also crying. Jurors had deliberated about an hour before convicting Brown, 30, who broke four ribs and a foot when his black Porsche spun out of control, jumped the curb and struck hedges and a street sign in Hollywood, Fla., in 1996. Brown also was ordered to pay a $500 fine and serve 100 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for a year.
