Police Pursuits
* Raymond Paul Johnson (letter, June 3) wants to hold the police responsible for injuries and damage caused by pursuits. On the contrary, the ones to blame are the idiots who flee the police in the first place.
We can certainly discuss how best to conduct these chases, but if it became known that the police wouldn’t pursue offenders except in the worst cases, everyone would simply drive off crazily, figuring the police would back off. This would make our streets and highways less safe, not more safe.
