My Favorite Weekend

Deejay Tami Heide will host KROQ’s sixth annual “Weenie Roast” Saturday.
Getting Physical: After my shift at KROQ ends on Friday afternoon, I usually head to the gym for an hour of weights and cardiovascular exercise. If it’s a really nice day, I’ll do a two-mile walk-run in my neighborhood in Laurel Canyon instead.
One of the Girls: It’s cocktails with my girlfriends at the Fox and Hounds in Studio City on Friday nights. It’s a pub. They have great cider and their food is really good, too. If we don’t eat dinner there, we might go to Pinot Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street.
Nightclubbing: Often times one of the bands we’re playing at KROQ will be performing at a venue like the Roxy or Whisky. So we’ll go and check that out after dinner.
Shopping Routine: Every other Saturday, I’m on the air from noon to 4 p.m. If I’m not on KROQ, I’m shopping on La Brea Avenue or at Sherman Oaks Fashion Square mall, which is a favorite because they have all the stores but it’s never crowded! There’s a funky stretch on La Brea Avenue near 1st Street where I buy clothes for on-stage wear and stuff for the home.
Out on the CityWalk: Saturday night, my boyfriend and I usually go to CityWalk. We’ll eat at Gladstone’s Universal and then catch a movie. Otherwise, we’ll just hang out at home and watch “South Park” reruns or movies. We’ll also order in pizzas, pasta and salads from Caioti on Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
Communal Vibe: Sunday is my free day. I start it off by going to the Hollywood Farmers Market on Ivar Avenue near Hollywood Boulevard. I love it because it reminds me of being in a neighborhood back in Boston, where I’m from. There’s a real sense of community. The first thing I get is roses. Then I get all the fruits and veggies. When I get home I arrange the roses while I listen to my new CDs.
Entertaining: Late Sunday afternoon, I have friends and family over for cocktails and dinner. I make an excellent chicken matzo ball soup as well as a really good Greek salad. I’ll also serve things like grilled fish and vegetables.
