Girls--Amanda Freed, Garden Grove Pacifica. Freed, who has a 4.1 grade-point average, was All-Southern Section in soccer, league most valuable player in volleyball and pitched 10 no-hitters as Pacifica won the Division III softball title.
Boys--C.C. Sabathia, Vallejo. Sabathia, 6 feet 7, 235 pounds, caught 27 passes and had 14 sacks in football, led a 32-2 basketball team in rebounding and was the Cleveland Indians’ No. 1 draft choice after going 9-1 and batting .563 in baseball.
