Pharmacy Granted Its Liquor License

Despite Councilwoman Heather K. Somers’ protests that there are too many liquor licenses, a pharmacy planned for Harbor Boulevard can sell alcohol.
Council members on Monday voted 4-1 to allow liquor sales at the Rite Aid pharmacy under construction at 3029 Harbor Blvd. Rite Aid will devote about 3% of the 16,730-foot store to liquor sales, and officials said they do not anticipate problems typically associated with convenience stores, such as loitering and underage sales.
Somers dissented, saying there are already 300 liquor licenses citywide.
