Estancia Set to Hire Scaffidi for Football

Estancia High intends to hire former El Modena assistant Roy Scaffidi as its football coach, Estancia athletic representative Jan Buday said.

Scaffidi’s hiring is pending school board approval, Buday said.

Scaffidi, 54, had a 36-26-3 record in six years as a head coach in Oregon and at Oceanside High, where he coached Junior Seau in 1986. Scaffidi has been an assistant at seven high schools and at Whittier College. He also was a head coach for two years in an Italian professional league.

He will replace Ray Liebengood, who had a 53-67-3 record in 12 seasons.
