Rowand’s Home Run Sparks Titans Past Northridge

Aaron Rowand’s home run in the eighth inning broke a tie and Cal State Fullerton went on to defeat Cal State Northridge, 6-4, Tuesday night at Titan Field.
Pete Fukuhara added a two-run homer in the eighth and Reed Johnson drove in the other three runs for Fullerton (11-6).
George Carralejo (1-0) earned the victory with three shutout innings of relief for the Titans.
In other nonconference baseball:
Azusa Pacific 9, Chapman 7--Consecutive home runs by Carlos De La Trinidad and Matt Lewallen in the second inning capped a three-run inning for Azusa Pacific.
John Knott had three hits, an RBI and a run for Azusa Pacific (9-2-1).
Robert O’Brien had four hits, including a home run, one run and three RBIs for Chapman (8-4).
Concordia 13, Westmont 1--Ben Kindreich posted four RBIs along with three hits and a triple for host Concordia (5-7).
In the Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball playoffs:
Concordia 85, California Baptist College 70--Concordia, seeded third, advanced to the semifinals of the GSAC playoffs against Fresno Pacific University Friday. Cal Baptist (12-16, 3-9) cut Concordia’s lead to 54-50 with 13 minutes remaining, but the Eagles went on an 18-4 run over the next six minutes to break the game open.
Concordia (23-8, 8-4) was led by Priscilla Bendik, who had 19 points and Jaime Gast, who led all scoring with 21.
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:
BYU 3, UC Irvine 0--Oswald Antonetti had 30 kills as BYU defeated UC Irvine, 16-14, 15-13, 15-8. Teammate Chris Pitzak had 78 assists for BYU (7-2, 7-2).
Mike Rupp had 21 kills and Cory Weber had 18 kills for the Anteaters (8-5, 5-5).
