The West Los Angeles branch of the city public library will be closed beginning today for several months of renovations, library officials said.
When it reopens early next year, the branch at 11360 Santa Monica Blvd. will have an additional 1,000 square feet of public space and a “virtual library” service, which includes computerized access to the library system’s extensive electronic databases, said library spokesman David Haut.
The $1.2-million renovation will include seismic work and new plumbing, wiring and shelving, Haut said.
Library officials said materials borrowed from the West Los Angeles branch may be returned to any Los Angeles Public Library branch. Nearby locations are the Kaufman-Brentwood, Palms-Rancho Park and Robertson branches.
