Stoudamire Goes on Injured List

Associated Press

The Portland Trail Blazers put guard Damon Stoudamire on the injured list Friday because of a sprained right ankle.

Stoudamire limped off the court in the second quarter of the Trail Blazers’ victory over the Phoenix Suns on Feb. 3 after he stepped on Jason Kidd’s foot on a drive to the basket.

He has missed three games and his status on the injured list means he must sit out at least five more.

After being acquired in a trade with Toronto, Stoudamire has played in eight games for the Blazers, averaging 13.8 points and seven assists. He has averaged 18.5 points and eight assists overall

To fill Stoudamire’s roster spot, the Trail Blazers activated guard John Crotty.

The Seattle SuperSonics, hoping to improve their mediocre rebounding, activated veteran forward Jerome Kersey, who had sat out 26 games because of a stress fracture in his left foot.

Zan Tabak, a center acquired from Toronto on Feb. 28, was activated from the injured list by the Boston Celtics, who put center Pervis Ellison on the list.

Tabak, sidelined for all nine games since the trade, was recovering from a broken right hand. Ellison has an ankle injury.
