It was too good to be true--a radio station devoted entirely to show tunes. I should have known they’d change formats (Theater Notes, March 8).
But why not add good standards, like the “Classic American Music” that KPCC used to play? Why add the schlock they’re playing now, which always sounds like “Mantovani Mangles the Hits”?
One change I am grateful for is getting rid of the celebrity deejays. What they need are more knowledgeable people (like Donald Feltham) and fewer people in love with the sound of their voices (like Gary Owens).
Thank you for printing the times when KGIL will focus on show tunes; now I know when to tune in!
