Gannon to Replace Grbac

Rich Gannon will replace Elvis Grbac as the Kansas City Chief quarterback Monday night against the Denver Broncos.
“Elvis Grbac is the quarterback of the future for the Kansas City Chiefs. I have no doubt about that. None whatsoever,” Coach Marty Schottenheimer said. “Rich Gannon is the quarterback for the Denver Broncos game.”
Gannon, 32, replaced Grbac late in the first half of last week’s 24-12 loss to Seattle after Grbac’s second interception was returned for a touchdown.
Grbac, 28, signed a five-year, $20 million free-agent contract in 1997, but has been inconsistent. He has thrown seven interceptions and lost one fumble in the last three games and the Chiefs are 0-4 since he returned from a shoulder injury sustained in the season opener.
