Bosco Tech 38, Bell-Jeff 14--Aided by two kickoff returns for touchdowns, the Tigers coasted in a Santa Fe League finale at Burroughs High.
Christopher Barredo had an 85-yard kickoff return for Bosco Tech (4-6, 3-4) after Bell-Jeff scored on the opening possession and Jason Carter added a 90-yarder on the second-half kickoff.
Bosco Tech had only 20 plays and 143 yards from scrimmage.
Michael Garciaparra, brother of shortstop Nomar Garciaparra of the Boston Red Sox, kicked a 46-yard field goal and five extra points in six tries for the Tigers.
Edward Chaidez rushed for 153 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point conversion for Bell-Jeff (2-8, 1-6).
Bell-Jeff scored on its opening possession, a 10-play, 80-yard drive capped by a five-yard touchdown run by Chaidez. Chaidez’s run on the two-point conversion gave the Guards an 8-0 lead.
Barredo bobbled the kickoff at his 15-yard line, recovered the ball on the 25 and ran through the Bell-Jeff coverage for the touchdown to make it 8-7.
Bosco Tech took the lead for good in the second quarter when quarterback Alexander Jiminez put the finishing touches on an eight-play, 43-yard drive with a 12-yard touchdown run.
John Perez scored on a 30-yard run and Carter caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Jiminez to give Bosco Tech a 28-7 lead at halftime.
