As she and her son were driven to church, a Placentia woman was fatally injured Sunday morning when the car they were in smashed into a wall behind their apartment building, police said.
Micaela Reyes, 51, was declared dead at the scene at 140 W. Orangethorpe Ave., Placentia Police Sgt. J. Zamora said.
The victim’s 10-year-old son, Elfego Reyes, suffered injuries to both arms, one of which was nearly severed, Zamora said.
He said the driver, Socorro Corales Robles, 64, was also injured and she and the boy underwent surgery at UCI Medical Center.
