Grants Available for Hiring of Seniors

A Ventura County agency is urging nonprofit groups to apply for grants offering federal dollars to hire a senior citizen.
Nine such grants are available to public and private nonprofit organizations through the California Department of Aging. The grants are being administered locally by the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging.
A total of $55,000 is available to fund the part-time jobs, which must be filled by low-income seniors. The contract period lasts one year, beginning July 1.
Grant applications are available at the Area Agency on Aging’s Ventura office at 77 N. California St. Deadline for applications is April 30.
