Cypress Defeats Riverside

Mandy Rockwell pitched a two-hitter as Cypress defeated Riverside, 2-0, in Orange Empire Conference softball Monday at Cypress.

Rockwell struck out three and walked one in pitching her 12th shutout of the season.

Ro Lutz was two for three with one RBI and one run scored for Cypress (45-7, 14-1).

In other conference games:

Fullerton 6, Santa Ana 4--Ha Nguyen had a two-run single as Fullerton (30-9, 11-5) scored six runs in the second.

Golden West 6, Orange Coast 1--Jenine Salamun gave up two hits and no runs in five innings and also scored the Rustlers’ first run and had an RBI.

Saddleback 9, Irvine Valley 0 (5, mercy)--Michelle Thompson had three singles, scored three runs and drove in one for host Saddleback (28-11-1, 10-5).

Saddleback wins--Brian Miller, who was the medalist, led Saddleback (14-1) with a one-under 70 on the El Camino course.
