Injury Ends Meet for Delahoussaye

DEL MAR — Jockey Eddie Delahoussaye will be sidelined for the rest of the Del Mar meet, which ends Sept. 8, after X-rays revealed a broken left shoulder, which was originally believed sprained.
Delahoussaye, 47, was injured when thrown after Ballaco, his mount in the eighth race on July 30, broke his right front cannon bone on the far turn. Ballaco, a 4-year-old maiden, had to be euthanized.
The rider, who passed 6,000 victories earlier this year, also suffered bruises to his arm and thigh. He has ridden only one day since the incident, winning with one of two mounts last Thursday.
