State’s Gift to Mission Is Sinful

* Re “$1 Million Boosts San Juan Mission,” Aug. 3:
Is it true that two Orange County Republican legislators, state Sen. Bill Morrow and Assemblywoman Patricia Bates, are requiring California taxpayers to give $1 million to the Catholic church?
As a California taxpayer I think that is sinful, not to mention against one of the principles our country was founded upon: separation of church and state.
Do you suppose there is a connection between this giveaway and the fund-raiser Morrow held at the mission before his last election?
