The state Department of Education awarded San Clemente High School a $42,000 grant to introduce an automotive technology academy at the school, officials announced. The school has consistently won awards in the county’s automotive technology competition and will now compete in a national competition scheduled to be held in New York, automotive instructor Bob McCarroll said. The grant will enable the school to spend more money on classroom equipment and studies such as fuel efficiency.
