NORTH HOLLYWOOD — A woman and her child escaped from their stalled van moments before it was struck Thursday by a 450-ton Metrolink train en route to Ventura, a Metrolink spokesman said.
The collision kicked up debris that injured a man standing near the tracks, the spokesman said. None of the 350 passengers and crew members on the commuter train was hurt in the 4:50 p.m. accident, which occurred at a railroad crossing at Bel Air Avenue near Raymer Street, according to Metrolink spokesman Peter Hidalgo.
The injured man was treated at a local hospital and released.
