Austria Returning Art to Rothschilds

VIENNA — Austria agreed Thursday to return to the Rothschild family about 250 art treasures looted by the Nazis during the widespread seizure of valuables from Jews and absorbed into state museums after World War II.
The restitution marks a first step in returning thousands of other objects to rightful owners.
“With this restitution we want to demonstrate a piece of justice,” said Elisabeth Gehrer, minister of education and cultural affairs.
