Flag Protests

Re “Merchant Wins Free Speech Ruling,” Feb. 11: I saw ugly hatred in the faces of those anti-Communist Vietnamese zealots who wanted a Westminster merchant to take down a portrait of Ho Chi Minh. Some carried signs that said, “Freedom.”
Many Vietnamese came to America to escape a totalitarian regime and enjoy freedom. However, these protesters don’t have any idea of what “freedom” is. It seems they would be very happy in a totalitarian state, but one in which they were in control.

The courts have ruled that protesters have a right under the 1st Amendment to tear down our American flag, spit on it, stomp on it and/or burn it. Now protesters cannot tear down a Communist flag because the owner of that flag has a right under the 1st Amendment to fly it and is protected to do so. Am I missing something here?
