One challenge the city will face in its effort to come up with a specific plan for the West Side is to increase Latino involvement. Some residents expressed disappointment that a recent West Side Planning Fair drew about 100 residents but only a handful of Latinos.
Consultants and city planners will work on ideas for outreach to attract more of a diverse group at future workshops and meetings.
A second workshop is scheduled for late March. Written comments on the strengths, weaknesses and visions of the West Side are still being accepted. They can be e-mailed to EIP Associates at cityofcostamesa.com or mailed to the Planning Department, Attention: Mike Robinson, P.O. Box 1200 or 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92628-1200.
