The Encino B’nai B’rith Bagel Brigade needs volunteers to pick up bagels, breads and pastries. Participants deliver the baked goods to Valley schools, mental health centers, needy families, battered women, abused children, senior citizens and the homeless. The San Fernando Valley Literacy Council is seeking English as a Second Language and literacy tutors for adults. Training will be at the United Methodist Church of Sepulveda at 15435 Rayen St., in North Hills, Saturday and March 27 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Training books cost $25. The Volunteer Center Assistance League of Southern California needs mentors to help start a job club. Training is provided and volunteers will counsel newly hired people at Lutheran Social Services, 6425 Tyrone Ave., in Van Nuys. Call Joan Kagan at (818) 908-5128 for more information.
